Need some new outfits? Shop your closet!!

While living in Cleveland, I had a couple clothing consultants come out to my house to help me create new outfits out of my existing clothes. They sifted through my closet, throwing out clothes they didn't like, putting together outfits I would never wear and well -- insulting me. They didn't really listen to my lifestyle or where I'd be wearing the outfits. Worse of all, they acted as though we were on an episode of What Not to Wear, saying things like "Hello, Miley Cyrus called, she wants her shirt back." Enter Allison Taylor Moseley.

I knew that with No Frump February approaching, I needed some help to look my best. While Allison is better known in Austin for her beautiful jewelry design, her new Stylist gig comes as no surprise to the stores that she has been merchandizing. Allison showed me that there is a huge difference between a consultant and a Stylist.

The Taylor-Moseley Styling Service consists of three components, Sort, Style & Shop. In our first session, I pulled out my accessories, shoes and fall wardrobe for her to sort. She was kind as she told me which clothes looked too young for me or which fabrics were not quality. She also didn't fight me when I simply couldn't let go of a shirt or pair of jeans. Best of all, she was informative. She didn't just say "No, this doesn't work for you," she explained why something didn't work and suggested what would work better. Allison made it a comfortable, judgement-free zone.

Here's my issue, I have a major identity crisis going on in my closet. As an event coordinator, my outfits need to easily transition from daytime office attire to evening special events. In addition to my ranging career apparel needs, I attend the shows of my musician fiance (Rusty) and want to look put together without trying too hard. My overall fashion goal is "effortless," and that's why I loved having Allison Sort, Shop and Style me.

I went to one of Rusty's shows after our session, wearing a white tee, jeans and boots that Allison chose for me and I received a huge compliment! Rusty's friend told me that Rusty should feel awesome showing me off that night and that was well worth the styling session!
